Ecatepec students shape their life projects with guidance from Grupo BAL mentors

  • 100 outstanding students at Preparatoria 94 developed proposals to address their communities’ needs.
  • 100 volunteer collaborators from Grupo BAL accompanied students in developing their capabilities.

“Your success, young students, is our success,” declared Guadalupe Barrera Cortina, principal of the Escuela Preparatoria Oficial 94 [Upper Secondary School], during the closing ceremony of the third edition of the “Transforming as a Community” leadership program. This initiative of the Alberto Baillères Foundation fosters social commitment and the participation of young people as agents of change.

During the 2025-2026 school year, 100 outstanding students received educational grants to continue their upper secondary education thanks to the partnership between the Televisa Foundation and Gol por México. Likewise, they were accompanied by volunteers from GNP Seguros, El Palacio de Hierro, Profuturo, SECOBAL, and VALMEX. In virtual meetings, Grupo BAL mentors helped students to strengthen their teamwork abilities and discussed students’ options in planning their future careers and academic paths.

Students and mentors had opportunities to socialize in person and create bonds of trust on three occasions: during the Mexican Independence festivities, at a holiday celebration, and at the Transformative Projects Fair. This last event marked the close of the program and provided a space in which students presented the initiatives they put into practice to respond to needs they identified in their communities.

Ashley, a student at Preparatoria 94 [Upper Secondary School], shared her perspective on the program’s impact: “Action transforms. It creates movement. It separates those who dream of a better world from those who make one.” Her message acknowledged the support of students’ mentors, educators, and families, highlighting that this experience had reaffirmed her determination to promote positive changes in her surroundings.

The Alberto Baillères Foundation is grateful for the dedication and commitment demonstrated by volunteer mentors, as well as the collaboration of Grupo BAL companies and of authorities, educators, and advisers at Preparatoria 94 94 [Upper Secondary School]. Likewise, the Foundation reaffirms its commitment to continue implementing the “Transforming as a Community” leadership program.
